Black Crown Clothing recently celebrated the highly anticipated release of their luxury clothing line. The event began at 12pm and ended around midnight. This allowed attendees to attend the event at their convenience.
Upon arriving to the event I was greeted by ‘True Klassiq’ who directed me to fill out a name badge as an icebreaker for networking with other guests. At first it felt like speed dating but it definitely did help me to move around the room effortlessly striking up conversation with other attendees. The DJ of the night goes by the name of DJ Nzo, resident DJ for Sapphire Nightclub on Saturday nights.
The three faces behind the clothing line consist of Shadow, True Klassiq and Mac. Although they’re partners they are each their own separate brand.
True Klassiq is an artist as well as an entrepreneur. The term artist and entrepreneur seem to mean one in the same these days with what the music industry has transformed to be. TK has been in the music industry for quite some time but he owes his success to a writing assignment he received in the 5th grade. More specifically he had to write poetry. He had such a way with words that his friends convinced him to pursue a career in the industry professionally and well, here we are.
Shadow has been in the industry since 2005. He admits that he wasn’t fully on board with the idea of designing clothes when TK approached him initially about it but he was in full support. His story of entering the industry is a slightly different. He fell in love (or whatever you call it when you like someone in high school) and wanted to write music for the girl he liked. He developed a passion for it from there and has been professionally involved since 2008. He recorded his first song over the beat of “Indian Flute” by Timbaland & Magoo. He recorded it all in one take not because he wanted to but because he didn’t have a choice. Without a home studio and proper equipment he made it happen with a microphone hanging out of an air conditioning unit. If that isn’t dedication then I’m not sure what is. He is also the creator of White Eclipse Music Group where his partner, TK, is signed as an artist.
Last but certainly not least we have Mac, the sketch artist behind the designs of Black Crown.
